I've been considering putting a wet/dry system on my 55 gal tank. Its a FW community tank, right now there are no live plants, but that may change in a few months. Any suggestions on brands or size?

I built my own from modified plans from www.cichlid-forum.com. Of course, mine runs 400 gal of tanks so you might not need anything quite that big, but its a start.
If you are thinking about adding plants, you probably should at least think about adding co2 at that same time. In the case that you *might* be interested in adding co2, I wouldn't get a wet/dry. You can build sump, but I'd bypass the wet/dry filtration and just use a cannister. In that case I'd recommend:
thanks guys. both good suggestions. Is the addition of a C02 just for live plants? Live plants will be new for me and I haven't done much investigating on that yet.
as for a wet dry, there are a few options. marineland's tidepool 1 setup would be my first pick. also, you may wish to consider the eshopps wet dry filter. i ahve heard alot of good things from those who use eheim's wet dry filter self contained in a canister. eheim's is supposedley silent and very user friendly. however, the tidepool would be my first pick.
