so i went fishing at the 2nd avenue pier in myrtle beach, SC this past week and caught whiting, croaker, toadfish spider crabs, skates,a few sharks, black sea bass, and the UNKNOWN FISH, and nobody on the pier could identify it, therefore ......could someone help me.....i was fishing at about 25ft deep, using shrimp and H2O temp was ~64 F...thanks for your help

ps. i did keep 2 toadfish, but they are in a tank to themselves with a condy and a few hermits

I don't know, but it looks like it has the potential to get huge. Nice catch, and great toadfish :)

thanks for all ya'll help, i believe i found it...its an Urophycis floridana, Southern Hake


either way,,,,it was a pretty sweet find considering its the first time ive landed one there and ive been fishing that area for like the last 15 years or so...


ps. thanks for the oyster toadfish comments...they are sometimes referred to as mother-in-law fish when your fishing and alot of people kill them as they are neiussances to other fisherman trying to get larger game fish....but i just love catching and releasing (well....most of them ;) )
