I don't vacuum really...kind of treat it like sand. If I see areas where mulm is building up, I just use the hose end over the substrate to suck it up. Otherwise I just do water changes and don't worry about vacuuming, especially now that there's shrimp in the tank. There are too many plants to be able to vacuum much anyway.

I vac normally, but the tanks with eco are pretty heavily planted so its only in the spots I can get to. Otherwise, I hover the vac above the substrate in the densly planted areas.
