Not sure if this is the right forum as it doesn't really have a place. Do you guys know a reliable source that I can get a replacement cansister seal ring for the Eheim 2217? It is the big one that seals the top pump assembly to the body. If not, should I attempt to do a DIY seal ring....maybe using some RTV gasket or perhaps an Ace Hardware adventure?

Thanks,
Kris

when I used to test hydraulic hoses/fittings we would have to make o-rings regularly. You can buy o-ring stock from www.mcmaster.com and you cut it (as straight as possible) with a very sharp razor blade, then super glue the ends together, worked like a charm. However, i'm not sure it will work well with the small amount of clamping force available, all of our flanges were bolted together.

This is probably the easiest though:

this is the perfect forum for this type of question; I wouldn't risk anything DIY in such a finely engineered device, you're much better off searching for the right part.

bigalsonline.com just supplied me with a new impeller for my 2213, I'm sure they have those sealing rings for the 2217 as well.

Bigalsonline does have them, and while the 7 dollar price may seem a bit steep, its better than having to deal with a leak.

You could stop by home depot if you know the measurements.
