Suddenly my midas has his mouth constantly opened. Looks much like a stroke. Any ideas what this is?

Gasping or breathing heavily could mean the water is short on O2. Also could indicate ammonia or some other poisoning as it would cause severe irritation to the gills. I really don't know though as it could be from a number of factors...best bet for the OP is to check the water params (exact ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) and post them here as the majority of fishy problems stem from bad water quality.

If it's gasping, there could be low O2 content in the water or decreased gill function which is usually caused by Ammonia / Nitrite.
