Low light plant question

They should do fine as long as you keep at or under 3 wpg (just an estimation).

low light usually refers to plants that will grow fine under low light (<1 wpg- 3wpg).

they will usually grow well at higher wattages, but if the light is to high algea will take over.

ALL plants will grow in high light.

Low light is as referred to as above. It will grow, usually slower than under high light and typically the plants take a different apperance i.e. longer length between nodes, bigger leaves etc..

Algae won't necessarily take over with higher light if the tank is heavily planted. It has been my experience that the plants help choke out the algae. And yes, low light plants do "very" well with higher lights.

Algae can still grow even with a UV filter.

the uv filter will only affect algae that is free floating..

btw the actinic lights won't help the plants ..you may need to find triphosphor lights if using vho..I finally got tired of the light (VHO) and moved it over to my marine tank(works much better there)

I purchased shop lights and found a PC light and changed bulbs to 10k and 6700k

the low light plants are doing fine in this set up (75 g w 4x65 watt)
