I'm looking for everyone's opinions on these two filters. I will be setting up a new 29 gallon tank before too long and am trying to decide between an AquaClear 300 or Emperor 280. I have been using AquaClear filters for a good while, but am considering making a change. Have any of you used both? If so, what are your opinions of each? Thanks!

Both are good, you'll find strong proponents of each.
I prefer the Emperors, especially if you get rid of those disposable cartridges and use AC 500 foam in the filter wells of the Emperor. Works great, lasts forever.
I doubt you'll have regrets going with either filter.

I have 2 emperor 400s on my tank and they are great. I took the blue part off the cartridges and made my own with the black thing. I used a chair cushion that I got from a craft store.
