No, just use distilled water to mix it. There is already plenty of iron in the RedArt clay. There's a site that actually listed all of the ingredients found in RedArt Cedar Heights clay and it had a good amount of iron in it. If I find it again, I'll link it here.

Could you use regular tap water to mix since you won't use much water or does it need to be ro water or distilled?

I was just thinking, wouldn't some agar-agar, gelatin, or cornstarch, used as a binder, be better?

I THINK terra cotta is red pottery clay.
The reason for using the red clay is because of its iron content.
The clay itself is also a nutrient for the plants.
I have had these in my tank for about a month, and am totally impressed.
Thanks for the recipie Riiz!1 red turk discus, 1 M.boro Red discus, 30 Cardinals, 20 rummynose, 4 otos, 7 clown loaches, 3 SAEsLink> 10 Gal planted RCS Farm

Put the root tabs in on may 26. Just added new ones on June 22.
First the before pix, and then the after pix.
Same plants. Nothing changed but the addition of the root tabs.1 red turk discus, 1 M.boro Red discus, 30 Cardinals, 20 rummynose, 4 otos, 7 clown loaches, 3 SAEsLink> 10 Gal planted RCS Farm
