Am I wrong about this ,but I thought I read somewhere that you should get one bottom feeder, cory's,plecos, etc for each 10 gallons of water you have. The thought of having 6 cory's swimming in my tank sounds very nice.

Boy,Am I glad I found AC . Thank you for all your help

The "scavengers" or bottom feeders you select need to be compatible with the other fish in the tank and counted towards the overall stocking levels of that particular tank. There is no set rule for bottom dwellers per gallon. Many people have just catfish/plecs/loaches species tanks. Here are a few great sources for info.

Some of my personal favorite fish are bottom dwellers, including loaches, cories and plecs. Enjoy!

Agreed. Bottom dwellers are not a necessity as they don't eat poop and won't just survive on scraps. They need to be fed just like any other fish and produce waste, just like any other fish. Unlike in SW the is no such thing as a "cleaning crew", only a gravel vac. It's an unfortunate mistake that people make, which is where I am guessing this "rule" came from...
