HI
I have a pair of yellow banded marroon clowns and when i got home this after noon i see next to the anemones there are about 60 orange eggs on the live rock. the clown fish keep on protecting the eggs fighting away all the fish, such as the wrasse and angels. so what do i do in order to keep them alive and healthy. should i set up a 60L tank that i have or will the tank need to establish its self first. Please i need any help that i can get in order to raise these clowns. and the fish or shrimp wont eat the eggs if the clown fish are there or can they still eat the eggs.
Thanks

typically, a piece of tile or slate is put next to the anemone as a desirable laying spot, then put in grow out tank a few days after laying and fertilization. in short it may not be successful this time considering you dont have a tank already set up, but that definitely means prepare for next time :D

If you are able to move the piece of live rock to another tank that would be great. If the piece of rock is not movable, then you do not really have much of a choice. If you are able to move the rock to another tank, I would use a smaller tank ( rather then the 60 gal) If you have a smaller tank then you could use the water from your main tank to fill it then you would have the extact water parameters. Also have you done any research on rasing baby clown fish? You have to raise rotifers for them to eat becasue the larva are too small to eat other types of food. The one great thing about clownfish are that they will lay eggs very often. i think like every 2 or 3 weeks ( not excatly sure on that). If you do choose to leave the eggs in the main tank and they survive you will need to move them from the tank if you want any chance to raise them. I bought the book Clownfishes (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4538+4852&pcatid=4852)
This is a great book that tells you everything you need to know about raising baby clowns. you might not have a very good chance of succesfully rasing this batch of eggs, but do your research and you may have great success in the future. Hope this helps!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!

Thanks for the tips and advice. i am unable to move the rock so i will have to hope and see if they survive. the tank is 60gal its 60L so that = around 18gals. and i dont know where i can get the rofiters from i only see frozen ones. can i use live baby brine shrimp?

you need to use live. your lfs might carry rotifer cultures that you can get and make "rotifer water"

You can get live rotifers from Reef Nutrition (Reed Mariculture), I typically get the smallest size they have then culture my own. http://www.reed-store.com/?category=58&subcategory=30&productid=RSK-600, i grow them in 1 gallon water jugs with an air stone, they are fed http://www.reed-store.com/?category=58&subcategory=30&productid=RD-SM:1 twice a day until the water is green, i try and harvest 25% of my rotifers per day, if I don't have clownfish to feed I put them into the main tank or refugium.

http://www.reed-mariculture.com/rotifer/ also has some good cultutring info.

(I am not affilated with Reed Mariculture, just letting you know where I buy supplies from).

If you put a small clay plant pot (Home Depot Variety) into the tank they will usually lay the eggs there then they can be easily moved into a hatch out tank, usually at 5-6 days post laying when they are eyed and silvery.
