I'm brand new to the world of cichlids and i have a few questions...I've decided I would like to have a hap/peacock tank. My first question is are these compatible species? My goal is to have a colorful lively tank. Any suggestions on what fish I should get? Also male /female ratios.. I do have one last question does anyone know of any good websites to buy fish other than aquibid? Thanks everyone for all your help...

Personally I would go with a all Male tank. Most female haps/peacocks are very bland in color. If you go with a all male tank make sure to have all different species and different colored fish. Same species will fight and one will likely not have striking colors as the other....Scienchromis Fryeri is one of my favorites....maybe protomelas teeniolatus
another to consider is a borleyi, trewavasae as for Peacocks One of my favorites is a OB peacock hybrid, Strawberry Peacock, Eureka, Stuartgranti Maleri(yellow Regal) that is what I would start out with looking at.http://cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1257

In a tank that size you could get by with one of the larger haps, Nimbochromis Venustus and the like.
Also, I would go with mostlycichlids recommendations and I noticed he didn't mention A. Jacobfriedbergi. I'd avoid this fish as in my experience they are much more aggressive than peacocks of other colorations ( friedbergi is mostly blue ).
