found these at a site where i normally collect at, and have never seen them before around here any ideas? as a matter of fact ive never seen these before anywhere...



any help appreciated :)

these were found around Hammond, Louisiana in the Tangipahoa River

and they are as far down so that the roots are buried :)
and they have pretty broad leaves, like an inch thick

We have does here in san antonio. ive gathered a few from the streams around parks. They're called broad leaf sag, Sagittaria platyphylla. they're also known as arrow heads because of their emersed form. Ive had mine for months and yet still havent gotten any runners. after awhile the plants lost its thick leaves and grew in some that are thejust as wide but not as thick
