to me i feel each has it's own place. i have a tendency to want to make all the mistakes possible once. for instance i've tied thread too loose and went swimming for java ferns repeatedly. i've also tied rubber bands too tight and cut anubias rhizomes in half.
from my experiences i will say that for tying moss to a stick thread or net would be best. on the other hand for attaching anubias or ferns to a round rock a rubber band will hold its place much better. too tight or too loose in any occasion can be an issue. rubber bands ime don't snap in water like they do when you break them. they lose their elasticity and just fall off out of shape the way they were stretched.Regards... Done.
