is a single xp2 good enough for a 55G?
only housing a flowerhorn and 2 parrots atm.

I sure hope so. I am setting one up on my 55 this weekend, seeding it with a sponge from my XP3 and adding about 40 molly fry that need a place to grow bigger.

IMO they are too small. Of course it depends on what you have in the tank to obstruct the flow.

It will work but if you put more fish in the XP3 would be a better choice. The FH will eventually need a 75 as he will outgrow the 55.

Best to start with an XP3 otherwise you will end up buying more filters later. Your stock will get rather large even if you do not add to the fish when they grow you will need additional filtration. Its better to go big from the start and cheaper in the long run.

well the answer is YES it will work...

but keep in mind that you CANT overfilter a tank-- so the bigger is the better

I have 1 single big HOB filter on my 55g FW... it works fine-- but I would love more

The xp2 will be fine, especially if all that in there is molly fry

The filter will be enough but the flowerhorn will out grow the tank.
