ok i need a 36" light fixture for my 65gal and im trying to get off as cheap as possible so this is my idea i have a brand new light fixture but its 48" im thinking cant i cut it and shorten it by 12 inches to make it the 36" i want also this is a kitchen light it wasnt bought for aquariums so i dont no if it will work anyway also on the light it says this dunno if it might help ..
use only 2xt8/32wat max g13 flourescent lamps
ballast rateing:120v 1.0a 2x32 60hz
well any ideas / thoughts / it wont works ya got please post em lol thanks

ok so no one thinks this is a good idea or a bad one lol no suggestions no nothing hmmmmm in that case now im realy un sure about it lol

If you can take it apart, cut it down, then keep using the same endcaps mounted at the correct distance for a 36" bulb, I would say it would work fine. If you are using the same ballast it will slightly overdrive a 36" bulb.

If it will drive a 32 watt 48" t8...it will just slightly overdrive a 36" t10 or t8, which is fine. The really touchy thing is getting the spacing "just right" between the sockets.

I found an old 36" fixture that was trashed and replaced the guts with new ones from a 48" light...works great.

i was thinking about getting the bulbs and cutting the light fixture putting the lights in and fixing it back together but i asked on slas.com if anyone had a broken 36" fixture hope someone has one :D:D thanks for the infot tho kj5kb :D
