Recycle BioWheel?

I'd buy a new one. You never what parasites they had in the tank. The cost to replace it is way less than replacing dead fish.

I'd personally reuse it knowing that the bacteria are gone and that the tank would need to cycle.

clean it in a gentle bleach/water solution. then wash with water and use.

Do Not bleach it use vinegar if you want but that will kill all of the bacteria the bio wheel will still have bacteria on it the will just be in stasis. if the wheel is not coated in algae or crud I would just reuse it the way it is.

If he had discus there is little chance that anything nasty would be on the wheel.

reuse it just rinse it well and thats it. you never have to replace a bio wheel unless its damaged according to marineland.
