Hi there,

I've got 2 clown loaches in my 29g that are 2' and 2.5'.

The one larger clown loach seems to have very vibrant orange and black colors, while the other is extremely dark in color.

I was wondering if this was due to the pecking order in which they eat?
The smaller and darker clown loach is also a lot more shy and hides out in his cave 90% of the time. The other clown loach is more active and just randomly swims around checking the place out.

any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance

I'd simply rehome them in a large tank and get 3 more clowns or replace them with smaller species such as Botia striata or kuhli loaches.

At the Bottom, gilling rapidly.
I have to agree they need buddies and a bigger tank. The coloration differences are normal though.

I got 4 in an 180G and 1 of them hides and is duller than the other 3. I think its kinda normal. if I can ever get them outa there they are going into my 75. They are just to hyper for my discus tank.

for a peaceful shoaling fish they are super active and quite aggressive when it comes to feeding time

thank you all for the help

any suggestions on tank size / dimensions? I heard nothing less than 125g but I want bigger than that
