I've been having some issues with my HOB and it kicking up sediment in my tank and not doing a good job cleaning it (I just switched to ADA Aquasoil and the tank has only gotten dirtier since reinstalling the HOB).
So I decided this gave me the excuse I finally needed to get a canister. I got it for $70 shipped from petsmart so I'm happy.
But I'm not quite certain about the filter media. In my HOB I run a sponge, topped by filter floss (the pillow stuffing stuff you can get from Walmart for like $2), and then my bag of ?ceramic? biological filter stuff. Can I still use the filter floss or do I need to purchase a specific fine filter pad? I only ask because the fine filter stuff is what, I'm assuming, you need to change on a regular basis and the "official" filter floss stuff tends to be rather expensive.
thanks :thm:
