Depends on what you plan on keeping in it. 2.5 gal isn't going to allow for much.

I have a 2.5 gal Mini Bow with a few rcs and a couple clithon corona, planted with java moss, dwarf sag, blyxia, an anubias nana petite and a few red foot floaters. I am using a 10 watt aquarium CFL, which gives 4 wpg.

My plants are growing very well and I have had no issues with algae at all, none present.

I would imagine growing plants is off the agenda with this being in the marine forum ;)

More specifics on what you want to house in the tank will help people to advise on lighting...As mentioned above, a small CF or PC should suffice...although, size of the tank, your very limited....

my tank is a saltwater tank

this qualifies as a MARINE topic

but i don't intend on growing many plants just making halocaridina rubra thrive

Or a 70 watt sunpod isn't out of the question, just outa the price range for me :)
