hey,
i have a 20 gallon planted aquarium and green algae has just covered the glass of my aquarium. And i just wanted to confirm the reason for the algae as because i have 3.25wpg, no CO2, and some excel use. if i need CO2 how much should i use?
thanks

thats a lot of light bud, can you cut it back to say 2wpg? in a small tank like that you could set up a diy co2 system

try cutting back on the amount of time you have the lights on....say to 8-9 hours, and see if that helps, if you aren't doing that already. I agree, DIY would be easy.

3.25 is pretty high light in a 29 or a 55. and they are deeper. in your 20, 2 wpg is enough to keep the bottom of that tank nice and bright. add some diy co2 and you can grow just about anything. and the more plants you have, the more nutrients you'll be using. as long as you dont bottom out on ferts it should keep your tank balanced and pretty much algae free
