i have a 5 gal and a 10 gal. one has crs, a bee shrimp, and some bright red sokura rcs. the other has just plain old rcs.

i did my weekly water changes yesterday. i disturbed the substrate a little like usual. then removed 25% of the water. this time mixed my well water with some distilled water from the store so that i could get my hardness a little lower. i used 50% distilled water.

today 20 dead rcs between the two tanks.

what happened?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you that I could not keep dwarf shrimp alive in my 10 gallon. I had 15 of them which I acquired in the spring, and by mid summer they had all died. I would lose 1 everytime I did a partial water change, even though I made sure the temperature was the same and I added Prime.

Sorry for your loss.

I would venture to guess that you changed the makeup of the water too much by adding distilled water.
