I got him last sunday, and he was fine.. swimming around, but we noticed he was breathing a bit fast... but he was eating a lot, so we thought he was okay. Now today i walk in, and his eyes are slightly cloudy and they don't move! (odd for a flame hawk) even food floating by or fish swimming or my finger moving in front of his face won't make them move.. and he's at the bottom of the tank, breathing heavily and has been in around the same spot for two hours or so.... I don't know what he has, he's in a 55 gallon tank with a tomato clown, yellowtail damsel and a 4 inch bowtie damsel that seem to leave him alone. except the tomato clown has bitten his tail twice, but not very seriously, when he perched on the tomato's conch. his tail has been growing back a bit... he doesnt have any white ich spots, or anything noticible... just breathing hard and cloudy, non-movable eyes... What should i do??

Also i tested the water for PH, nitrites, nitrates, even alkalinity and they were fine.

Okay, here are some links to the pictures. There's some algae on the glass btw.

Warning: they are very large... hope they help :(

Looks like a bacterial infection Judging from your description, the fish is ailing too much to continue observation. The best course of action at this point is to set up a quarantine system and proceed to treat it with a broad spectrum antibiotic. A combination of Maracyn and Maracyn Two should work well.

I agree in Q/T if and when possible.. Dont know if need to mix two diff. med. Usually med with erythromycin (Maracyn I) should do the trick against what seems to be cloudy eyes.

Wondering if this fish were netted out of display tank. I seemed to notice when fish are in the net out of water before bagging, they tend to move/wiggle against netting which may have caused this problem. Next time whenever you buy fish, have them chase the fish into plastic container rather than netting and taking fish out of water.
W/ container method, fish are never removed from water nor will rub/scratch their eyes against any netting materials. This also reduces the stress of being chased. Put clear container against front galss in one corner and gently chased fish into container. This also reduces chances of getting tangled in the net, especially, tang, angels, and LIONFISH, etc.

Hope all goes well.
