hey guys,
this is my first marine tank build.
this thread will take a while to build up as i dont have huge amounts of money to buy everything straight away.
but i did want to keep a log of everything, so here it is.
My original plan was to have a 2x2x2 cube...
since i didnt have much knowledge, and i was still too indisicive?
i changed my mind and got a second hand all in one tank.
i got this off a reliable marine fish keeper.
i got an awesome cheap deal...
so here it starts..
first buy...
300 litre tank with built in overflow box.
curved front glass edges...
white hood and cabinet.
2.5 foot sump. come with four dimensions...
i also got 2x3ft lights they are only t5 high output lights... but this will be
a good start as i can start with low light corals and build my way up when
i get better lighting systems.
the overflow box has 3 holes drilled down the bottom.
1 is for inlet back into tank...
other 2 are for inlet into sump.
i am going to have a durso standpipe inlet into the sump and then just a
slightly higher pipe for back up.
the sump will have live rock for first dimension...
protein skimmer then next and then a refugium 3rd then inlet pump
back into tank...
i have decided to go with 1mm coral sand as a substrate choice.
i have also bought a floating temp/hydrometer
i have taken photos, this is going to be properly set up tomorrow and i cant wait.
first jobs are to put some brackets inside cabinet for extra support...
get new plumbing and clean tank and sump.
first things on the list to buy are a heater and some pumps.
and i will go from there.
if anyone has some advice to share or thinks i should change anything up.
please share it.
Thanks guys,
let me know what you think.
cheers
