Clam question

I've purchased a couple batches of golden clams from Living Aquatic on aquabid. I have them in all my tanks now; they seem to help with algae control.... though that could just be the conditions of the tanks I have them in. I've had 11 of them for a number of months with no deaths. They're terribly exciting creatures
