Alright all would it be ok to put this in my sump or would it be best to just use sand. Thanks.

Why? Unless you have a large seperate refugium I don't think sand/mud is a good idea in a sump setup. It doesn't really offer much benefit unless you can make it a DSB, but even then it is very hard to get the surface area required to make the DSB work well enough for the display tank inside a sump.
