Well its happened, Marine Ich has crept up all of a sudden and went bam!!!

Just going to keep a log here of how the progress of treatment is going. Going to treat by using Hyposalinity link below goes to Reefscapes article on the subject.

http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144242

So to sum up, I'm treating a total of 7 fish, in a Quarantine Tank as the main display tank is a reef setup and I don't want to do anything to damage my corals, inverts or LR.

Day 1

Setup QT tank with 50% mixed salt water and 50% main tank water and allowed to raise to temperature. Started to run filters using filter inserts which have been seeded from main tank. Also added filter start agent to help things along.

To give the fish some places to hide and some privacy added some rectangular PVC piping sections.

Day 2

Managed to finally catch all the fish and get them into the QT tank after checking all paras were ok and matched the main tank to avoid any shock to the fish.

In the evening, water para tests checked OK, apart from an ammo spike. Just about to do a water change to sort this out. Will change some more tomorrow before treatment starts.

Be sure to keep a close eye not only on ammonia, but also pH. You'll have less dissolved alkalinity ions, so the pH will shift more radically.
