Is it okay if I use mud from my backyard for my mudskippers providing it has no pesticides in it or anything like that? How to I clean out/wash/sterilize mud? Is there any mud I can buy from a fish/hardware store?

why do you need mud your mudskippers dont require mud i just use really fin grain sand.
the reason most stores dont sell mud is because the water gets cloudy and mucky and its not very attractive.thats just wat i think though

I use play sand in my tank and they dig their own burrows. I have a couple big rocks on the beach and they dig holes deep underneath them. You dont need mud, just use sand they can make their own burrows, at least mine do.

But sand won't keep shape when it's agitated with water. Do the mudskippers ever go in the burrows?

I know there's refugium mud out there, but I think it's for saltwater tanks. I really don't have a clue whether mudskippers would like it or not.

Indian mudskippers live on marine beaches according to FishBase.
