We all know that molly fish, like all other brackish fish, need salt in their tanks to thrive.

The question is: How much?

I've read claims of anywhere from 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons to one tablespoon for gallon.

That's a major difference in salinity.

So, how much salt should I use?

Also, is there a difference in the "Aquarium Salt" I buy at Wal-Mart and the sea salt or will both work fine?

Thanks.

i believe salt level would depend mostly on the fish you are housing but in general yea its 1 tbsp per gallon i think
and to make it brackish you need marine salt and not aquarium salt because they have different properties
