how long to wait after disaster?

hi, well just discovered my seahorse have died, what from?....i haven't a clue (long story- no physical signs of disease)but my question is how long should i wait until i can safely restock my tank (not seahorse) i have 6 hermit crabs and 2 peppermints shrimp.

:feedback: i know it is probably dependent upon the organism that caused the disease and that most are present in aquariums anyway but are not an issue until the right conditions become available, however in order to be able to put some fish in it again,how long is recommended since no fish are avaiable as a host/ food source?

Who knows. Many of the bacteria that commonly cause diseases are often facultative pathogens and are omnipresent. I'd do a few large water changes, add some carbon, maybe some extra fine filtration, etc, and let it sit for a few weeks in the meantime.
