I have a gold dust molly that I absolutely adore. She's very energetic and sometimes spazmatic ... if fish can have ADHD, she does.
But after a sudden, unexplained temperature spike (in the 90's!!!) she disappeared. I feared for the worst.
Two days passed an I didn't see neither fin nor scale out of her.
I was so sad.
But gradually I noticed something cowering in the corner, gills puffing hard. As sad as I was to see her in that condition, I thought I'd give her a couple of days. Just to see if she'd snap back.
Patience pays off. After about a week, she's back to normal, ADHD and spazmaticness to spare.
Just thought I'd share. It's amazing how fish can bounce back.
And how much an owner can come to love them.
