I am not sure where to put this so I will put it here. I bought this little fish from where I work. I watched for 3 weeks and no one seemed to want to buy it so now he has a (hopefully) happy home with me. I have it in a 20 gallon tank with guppies and ghost shrimp. I have noticed that some of the gups are missing so he (or she) must be eating. The name of it is Thalassophryne amazonica. It was labeled sandy bottom monster. I looked it up and it is a freshwater toadfish.

Ooh I think I saw these on a fish store sight and thought they were so ugly-cute! Yep, total hunter... you may need to move him, I think he'll eat everything else. they may also have a poison spine... But i mat be thinking freshwater rock fish, which I'm not sure is the same thing.

I hoped he would eat the guppies and the ghost shrimp I put in for him too. I looked it up and he does have a poison spine so I will have to be careful when I am working in the tank. Since I am allergic to bee stings I have to be careful around all fish with poison of any kind. :)
Here is a good german website with good pics about the fish. http://www.aquatax.de/fische/thalassophryne_amazonica.htm
But if you do not know german here is a site with info about it. :)
