My mudskipper has been looking really fruity and colorful lately, it's eyelids are all colorful, (they're an ivory color) I just checked and it was blue with spots and stripes everywhere, and ever since february, it has been jumping around. I also see it attempting to burrow (which fails, because it only gives it less land because the sand doesn't keep shape) so I ask: Is the mudskipper wanting to breed? Should I get a clayish substrate for it to burrow in? (I was thinking worm castings, maybe if I can get a plant to suck up all their nutrients)

IS IT MATING SEASON FOR MUDSKIPPERS?

I've been considering mixing silt from the pond with fine sand, and I've also considered this:
http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/zoo-med-excavator-clay-burrowing-reptile-substrate-reviews
but my reptile store said that could kill mudskippers.
I've also been considering using claylike wormcastings, but I'm scared that it will make the water chemical soup. I'm going to find some money I've saved over the years and also try to buy a female mudskipper. Which websites have healthy ones, and what should I do for the soil?

Yeah, it is a loner.
I wanted to buy it a few "friend" mudskippers for him. Too bad the shipping is EXPENSIVE! :(
