My youngest son is in the Army and has been with the 4th ID out of Ft Carson CO and the 10th Mountaineers out of Ft Drum NY.

He is currently with the Old Guard in Washington DC. (Google it and be impressed, an awesome duty station for our military folks).

In his short time there, he has had breakfast with several Congressman who invited him out to dine with them after an early morning ceremony and after another ceremony, was called the next day by a top level general, to go for a morning jog and call cadence for the group of Pentagon runners.

This week got even better.

He and two friends were taking a fourth Friend to the famous Ray's hamburger joint in Washington DC for his friends 21st birthday. The line was long and the place packed. As they stood there, some guys in suits and dark glasses came out and asked them to come inside. A table was cleared for them. The video attached shows much more than I can say....

My son Robert is at 44 seconds in..just to the left of President Obama as you look at it.

What is not shown is how the Russian President, Medvedev, brought the menu to Robert and asked for a recommendation on what burger to get.

Crack me up!

Awesome! You must be very proud. I'm sure there is a reason he has been chosen for these situations, serving with pride and dignity. It makes me proud just to watch it.

Like him or not, you have to admit, Obama seems to be one of the more personable presidents in recent times.

That's amazing!!! Congrats to him. I've had the privilege to have met our old president, George W. Bush. My uncle was a sniper for the Seals (now in Afghanistan training Rangers) and used to escort the president to press conferences. Man, whether or not you like a president, you are always in awe when you see them.

Btw, which one is your son?
