My friend's setting up a brackish tank and we'd like to speed up the cycle. We're wondering if I'm able to seed her tank with nitrifying/ nitrosifying bacteria from my SW tank? Maybe if I had a container of it and slowly acclimitized to her lower salinity, some bacteria would adapt? What about FW bacteria for that matter?

What's the target salinity?

FW bacteria would likely be more successful given the salinities for a BW setup are generally closer to that of FW than full on marine conditions. When people transfer from FW to BW it's generally recommended to only increase by increments of about .002 or so. The time frame between changes varies though, some say weekly and others monthly. I think weekly would be fine.
