well im in ohio and while im sure there are probably some in the area, i know when i was younger i caught some sort of darter in the ditch behind my house.
The ditch is no more than 2 feet deep in spots, and 4 feet wide in a few lol

A 50 gallon with crick fish?! haha

sounds like a plan to me lol

Ur big girl is 5inches now! Congratz! does she try to eat the babies? Hey kaosu have you been able to get your sculpin to eat pellets? As for my sculpin my friend is housing the big male who is now 5 1/2 inches!! my female seems way happier that the larger sculpin is gone and has grown to 4 inches and devours everypiece of food in sight
im going to measure her out side of the water when i go to put her in the 40 gallon to be sure but yeah she might be a little over the 5 inch mark and shes fat!

i never tried to stop her from eating the babies, these are survivors of about 30 fry under 1/4 of an inch i got last summer as feeders for the large female who was about 3 inches at the time...she ate them all down to 4..now they avoid her when they can but....we shall see the new tank has allot of 'out of site' places for the babies to hide in..if she eats one or two that is fine..im hoping for one to make it, if more do than i will re home them before next winter when they hit there growth spurt, 2 8 inch+ bottom dwellers is enough for 1 40 gallon ^_^....so we shall see who wins!

glad to here yours are doing good!

I hope some babys make it, although these fish are great eaters. I have also noticed that mine stalks around the tank at night alot. I have a bit of trouble feeding her sometimes as she is on the bottom and I have a few mid-top level fish. My centerpiece fish a bluegill loves to steal her food. Even when the bluegill is on the other side of the tank when I drop some food for the sculplin the bluegill rushes over super quick and steals the food :P

yeah i would watch out for the blue gill...sculpin are common food for them in the wild.

Sculpin are not really cannibalistic, so i am pretty sure the last 4 are safe.

the new tank has a second layer made by the wood..it provides 'cover' for them....basically something over there head to feel secure with out being hidden...that is why i have so many big anibia and the suspended logs. This makes the sculpin come out and interact during the day ^_^ rather than hide in dark holes till the lights go out.

Yes I love ur setup its so natural! As for the bluegill eating the sculpin, I am almost posative it couldnt happen since the bluegills mouth is just way to small. In fact I believe the sculpins mouth is bigger than the bluegills :P. My sculpin has a "house" which is a upside down u shaped log, she loves to venture to my rockpile and blend into the rocks in the current. She is active all day but I always catch her stalkin around at night haha.
