So - I wake up this morning to my female BNP stuck in the pvc tubing of my air driven oxygen plus bio-filter #2. This thing: http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3936

She was stuck in the top part, head first, in that little gray pvc pipe... So, happily the top part came off and I was able to fit my pinky in there and push her back out by the head, as I pulled her out at the same time (VERY GENTLY) by the tail. She emerged a little frazzled, but quickly swam away - I didn't see any cuts on her, or even any scale damage (that I could see), I think she will be fine... she was back munching on driftwood a few minutes later & I got a pretty good look at her...

I took the filter out so she wouldn't go back in there while I was at work - I dropped it into the 29g so the BB wouldn't die off... I was thinking maybe I should just leave it out? Or I could try stuffing sponge filter into that pvc tube until she gets bigger, but I am worried that the air would just blow it out/not be able to get through?

So I have questions:

1. Should I treat her with anything? She looked o.k. this morning, but honestly I didn't get to stay home and continue to monitor because I had to come to work :(
2. She is in a 75g high light planted tank w/ pressurized CO2. The main filter is the Rena XP3 (well established, 3+ years), which I angle up towards the surface to get some surface agitation -- I had the air driven sponge in there to create a little bit more oxygen (had it balanced with the CO2 nicely... ) So, do you think the Rena XP3 will:
A. provide enough oxygen for the fish (CO2 is somewhere between 25-30ppm) and
B. do you think I will "miss" the extra BB from the sponge filter?

Here is a cell phone pic of a part of the tank... I don't want to kill my plants with any treatments, so I would QT her if toxic plant treatment is recommended...

I think you're fine without it. your plants are able to supersaturate the water with oxygen much better than an air pump which does little to nothing other than provide surface agitation. All this does is equalize the tank to the atmospheric concentrations of gasses. Plants are able to supersaturate the water with oxygen much better than an air pump.

I wouldn't treat the pleco. If it's not broke then don't fix it. Keep an eye out for him and make sure he's alright though. Just keep the water clean and wait.

i would use a piece of a biomedia bag (the net type ones with the larger holes, not the ones for carbon). fix it to the end of the tube with an elastic band. this shouldn't hamper your flow at all.

Pretty tank! I would take a wait & see approach too. Maybe a bit of sponge or plastic mesh to keep her out of the filter tube. Do you have wood & other hiding places for her? Maybe a PVC tube tucked discretely hidden somewhere if that's what she likes.

I have plenty of driftwood in the tank for her to hide in... I guess if she starts acting skiddish then I will get her some pvc piping, but she has been good so far... I have only had her for about a week now, she has been happy and healthy & has gone to TOWN on the algae that was in that tank... I think that she went in that pvc tube to get some algae, and then couldn't get back out :y220e::thud:

I like the biomedia bag idea, thank you! I think I will do that - at least until she gets bigger -- or smarter....

You're probably right about her going after a bit of yummy algae. I had one get stuck in a breeding cave once. Didn't know how long she'd been in there, she seemed to be dead and I couldn't dislodge her. I carefully cracked open the clay cave and her fins were a bit frayed, she hid for a day, but she was fine. No need to treat her with anything.
