I think I may have a fin rot break-out in my tank.
My tank is mostly Platys and Guppies. The water quality is good - I had a bit of a spike a few weeks ago when I started using algae killer to control the algae in the tank, but it's back under control since then. I'm sure that the stress of killing off the algae and then the ammonia/nitrate/nitrite going up for a few days is the cause, but now my questions is: what's the best way to deal with it?
My "for dummies" book says that it's a bacterial thing, so I'm sure that even the fish that aren't showing signs may be infected and I'd like to take care of this before any more fish show signs (I've already had to euthanize three that were totally consumed by it).
Can anyone recommend the best course of action?
Thanks!
