Hi,

I am setting up 180G low light tank and looking on Craiglist but could not find any. Can you please let me know what is the best light system with moon light and where to buy it?

Thank you,

Tony

Take a look at Catalina's fixtures. They have a great selection plus they can custom make you whatever you may want. You can give them a call and they should be able to fix you up. Just let them know what you are trying to do with your 180g. T5HO lighting is popular. You could elevate your fixture so that you would be in the light range that you want plus they can help you with the number of bulbs needed. They have moon lighting too.

my opinion... toss the blue and do 10,000k and 6700k. then again, i don't have any pretty blue discus, either.

Ditto

Blue light shining down on green (and red) plants looks really bad. Plus, it doesn't contain the spectrum that the plants need for photosynthesis.

I can attest to that. I bought a used fixture that had a 10,000 bulb and a 50/50 14,000/20,000 bulb and it looked terrible. I never used the blue bulb and once I replaced it with 6700 it looks fantastic and the plants are pearling nicely.

Hi,
I finally upgraded to 180G low light planted tank about a month with pool sand, driftwood, 84F temp, 2 canister filters (xp3 and reaction 45), 2x 36" T5 HO 39W lights (2x 6700K and 4x 10000K) total 234 watts 24" from gravel, 1 power head, 16 discus, 16 cardinals, 2 bn plecos, 1 cory. I am having problem with brown algae. From what i have read, i think it may not fully stable and i have ordered some seachem flourish excel and fertilizer on its way. Can you please let me know what is it? and what can i do in my case?

Thank you in advance,
tony
