I'm a beginner at keeping a reef though I've had a FOWLR for about 2 years now and that is going fine.

I want to start up a nano reef with some lower to med light easy to keep corals. I have an extra 29 gallon 30" long and have most equipment but I need a light. Any ideas.

What do you think of this light?

It seems light a pretty good light to me but I'm not really sure.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

LEDs. ;) I just put 24 Cree LEDs over my 29G to replace 6x 24w T5HOs and it is fantastic. Much more light and much less power. Plus never have to worry about changing bulbs out again.

DIY if you wanna do LEDs for any reasonable amount of money.

I bought my DIY kit from rapidled.com but you can build it for probably 1/2 the cost I spent (almost $300) if you go with cheaper LEDs like the ones Steve sells at stevesleds.com. The only issues I know with Steve is he lags big time on responding to emails/fulfilling orders and the white LEDs he sells are not that good compared to Cree XP-G cool white LEDs (Steve's run about 65% of the output vs Cree's), but the royal blue LEDs he sells are almost identical to the Cree's for 1/2 the cost. Then again, I only run my Cree XP-Gs at 50% anyway because anymore is just too much so Steve's whites will probably work just fine.
