Hi everyone. I need to set up a small tank with a completely closed top in a quiet room (some challenge, huh? ;)) so I need a small internal filter.

Something like this or this:
http://www.petco.com/product/13796/Hagen-Elite-Mini-Underwater-Filter.aspx
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3523858&cp=2708660.4397136.4397199

Anyone have one? Again, can't be air driven, or HOB, like these:

http://www.bigalsonline.com/Fish_Filters_Power-Filters_Nano-Filter_8438785_82.html?tc=fish

Thank you!
Nicole

P.S. If anyone wonders, it's for an invert tank in the children's department of a library, hence the closed top and quietness requirements.

I have a sponge filter on my 10g shrimp tank, and instead of an air pump I put a powerhead on it. (I can't stand how noisy air pumps are!) I have that same sponge you linked, the Hydro-Sponge, and a Maxi-Jet powerhead.

It is absolutely quiet. Completely! I have to check the surface of the water to see if it's even on. The only things that have to pass the lid are the power cords for the heater and powerhead, and you'd have those no matter what. Everything else is inside.

I like the sponge/powerhead combo because then fry/inverts can't get sucked up into the filter. My shrimp are thriving, and I have lots of crystal red babies.

That's a thought! I wish they didn't make them so bulky though, a 5 gallon tank can't accommodate a Maxi-Jet 400 very well. So far the filter I like the best is an Elite Mini, problem is it's not sold in any store...online only around here. And the shipping is $8 for a $9 filter *sigh*

Thanks, but that's just as much as the new filter I was hoping to get...which I think I'll just buckle down and get. Thank you though.

I have a 20-30gal turtle filter. I think it's $20-25 at Petco. Should be able to do $8-10 shipped.

That looks pretty good actually, I like how big the foam is...seems like it would stay cleaner longer. Sure, I'll PP you $10 - just PM me your address :) I'll be back online shortly after 4 pm.

The two you linked to have tiny sponges.
The Fluval i Plus is larger.
A Pico size power head on a large sponge, such as the Hagan Aqua Clear power head sponge would be perfect.
