This is my first Viv build and I am very happy with the results! As a veteran fishkeeper, I recently decided to plunge into the PDF(poison dart frog) world. I naturally have a green thumb so my decision to try my hand at PDFs was a no brainer. :)

Before we get to the pics, here is a little info on my build......

37 gal. column(not cylindrical) this just the name given from the manufacturer
dimensions: 20" x 18" x 24" tall

False bottom
Foam BG covered with Permastone
Substrate: ABG mix
Lighting: Exo terra 18" fixture, 2x 26 watt(Repti Glo 2.0 26w bulbs)
Sub. pump: Marineland Mini-Jet 404
Circulation: 2x 30mm case fans with NZXT fan controller
DIY Fogger: Honeywell Top Fill Humidifer

possible inhabitants: Ranitomeya 'Varadero'(still undecided)

and here we go.......

I decided to try a piece of conduit fitting(left), it's much smaller and less noticeable once inside the tank.

DIY plant pots

partial screened lid. I got the kit from Lowes
100_1540.JPG

TRYING to construct my pond area. I used Great Stuff, painted it black with acrylic paint, then covered with silicone and attached small river rock to the wet silicone. I left several large openings in the pond area so water would flow throughout the false bottom and there would be no stagnant water. The pond area is completely lined with mesh screen so none of the inhabitants can get underneath the false bottom.

tinkering with various shades of black, brown, and grey to get the 'aged' rock look. unfortunately, I didn't take many pics of this step of the build.

Looks good, can't wait to see the finished build. I think PDF's like high humidity, so a glass and mesh top would be better.

Cool tank dimensions!

I attached some coco fiber to the BG to hopefully get some moss growing on it later

100_1552.JPG

BG in the tank and hydroballs and ABG mix in there also.

A closer look at my pond. I still have to cover up the lower part of the glass so you cannot see the false bottom.

and a couple of my circulation fans

Pics of some very nice plants next!!
