Yes, it appears that they open and close kinda slowly....

It could be non-pulsating Xenia but If you sway near top of them, do polyps retreat into their base which covers most of the rock (perhaps purplish color) and does that purplish base (cant remember the correct term now) keep growing/creeping onto rest of the rock??

Yes they definitely will retreat into the purplish skeletonish thing ... n yes that is slowly covering the rock...

Probably/Maybe Pachyclavularia Sp???

Lean that rock against glass and polyps can creep onto glass wall, covering entire backglass (perhaps in many yrs depending on the tank size)

ok... def. not "Pachyclavularia Sp", thats a green star polyp... which i also have that...
