Mafia 88: Insane Asylum
As with the rest of the country, hard economic times have hit ACville. High unemployment coupled with reduced spending have even impacted the local crime syndicate. No money among the population means less for the Mafia to steal.
In order to fill their pockets, the Mafia hatch a scheme…. Reopen the long-shuttered ACville Insane Asylum, and then collect state-supplied money to run it. The only hitch; the asylum must be filled with patients before the state will provide a dime to run the place.
To complete their evil plan, the Mafia sneak into town one night, with a hypodermic needle and psychosis-inducing drugs -- injecting each and every resident of ACville while they sleep……

You wake up feeling groggy, with drool running from your mouth and forming a wet spot on the front of your shirt. Looking down you notice that you’re slumped in an old wheel chair.
The room is bright enough, even with the faulty fluorescent light flickering in the corner of the room. Even in your delirium you’re able to notice other people in the room; lots of other people. People, like you, with dazed looks on their faces.
In studying their faces further, you realize that for some reason all of these people seem familiar, but no matter how hard you try, you just can’t place where you know them from. To make matters worse, you’re not even sure who you, yourself, are….
You go to wipe the drool from your face when you notice a folded piece of paper tucked into your hand. You open the paper and read the following:
As you finish reading, you feel a sting in your arm and turn your head quickly to notice a seedy looking person pushing the plunger on the hypodermic needle stuck into your arm. Your vision blurs, and everything goes black....“IMPORTANT! You are now a patient of the AC Insane Asylum, but have been committed against your will. You must work with others, in similar situations, to get out.
BEWARE! There are several evils, planted among you, who will try to thwart your plans to leave.”
In this game, instead of your own screen-name, everyone will post using alternate IDs (or aliases) provided by me. Nobody will know who the other players are.
ROLES
1 Player will receive the following PM:
1 Player will receive the following PM:Detective
You are the former town detective. At night you roam the halls and gather information. Each night you will be allowed to investigate one other player, and be told their role.
2 Players will receive the following PM:Doctor
You are the former town doctor. At night you roam the halls and protect other patients from harm that may await them. Each night you will be allowed to protect one other player from meeting with harm. You may not protect yourself. The doctor cannot protect against a shot by the Vigilante.
1 Player will receive the following PM:Mason
You are a Mason with player A. You are able to communicate with them through a ventilation shaft in your room. You know them to be innocent, and may communicate with them outside the thread, at any time. If you should die, you may no longer communicate with your partner.
1 Player will receive the following PM:Vigilante
You are a Vigilante aligned with the town. Willing to escape the asylum at any cost, you decide to take things into your own hands. You have a single shot that you may use to eliminate another player in the game at night.
9 Players will receive the following PM:Tracker
Frequently unable to sleep, you roam the halls at night, hoping to follow any residents who might be out and about. Each night you will select one player to track. If the tracked player leaves their room to perform a night action, you will be told who they visited (but not the action performed). You will not be told of anyone coming to the tracked player's room to perform a night action on them.

You are a townie, with no power, other than your vote. Use it wisely, and you may just get out of this predicament.
1 Player will receive the following PM:Mafia Snoop
You are a Mafia Snoop planted in the asylum to keep the patients in line. At night you roam the halls and gather information. Each night you will be allowed to investigate one other player, and be told their role. Note that only you have this ability, and if you die, the ability dies with you.
You are a member of the Mafia with player W, player X, player Y, and player Z. You may communicate with them outside the thread, at any time. If you should die, you may no longer communicate with any of them.
3 Players will receive the following PM:Mafia One-Time Mass Role-Blocker
You are a Mafia Role Blocker planted in the asylum to keep the patients in line. On one one night only, you may adjust the medications of the patients, causing them to sleep, and not complete any night actions (investigation, protection, track or vig-kill). This will not affect your team's ability to complete night actions.
Note that only you have this ability, and if you die, the ability dies with you.
You are a member of the Mafia with player W, player X, player Y, and player Z. You may communicate with them outside the thread, at any time. If you should die, you may no longer communicate with any of them.
Mafia Goon
You are a Mafia Goon planted in the asylum to keep the patients in line. Each night you roam the halls with your partners with the intention of killing one of the patients making any trouble.
You are a member of the Mafia with player W, player X, player Y and player Z. You may communicate with them outside the thread, at any time. If you should die, you may no longer communicate with any of them.
WIN CONDITIONS
Town wins when all Mafia is eliminated.
Mafia wins when their number equals that of the town and they control the lynch.
RULES
GENERAL
1. All game mod decisions are final. If you disagree with something, or have a question about the game, feel free to PM me.
2. You may not quote your role PM to prove your innocence.
3. No editing of posts! Even if you accidentally post using your regular screen-name, you may not edit that post.
4. Special mod powers may not be used by any players possessing site modding privileges.
5. Unless your role permits, NO discussing this game outside of the thread.
6. Once you're dead, you may not post in this thread or respective private team (mason or mafia) threads.
7. It's just a game. Please, no personal attacks on other players.
- If any player feels they are being personally attacked, please PM me and we can try to resolve the situation.
- Any player who says that they are quitting the game will be killed immediately, and their role revealed.
8. I've tried to make these rules as complete as possible. In the event that I've overlooked something, I reserve the right to make revisions accordingly.
VOTING
1. You must vote to lynch someone each day. If you do not vote, you will die an untimely death (UD).
2. You may vote for “No Lynch”, or yourself, if desired.
3. To vote to lynch a player, you must say 'I vote to lynch so-and-so,' and BOLD your vote. Votes that are not bolded will NOT be counted.
4. To change your vote, a retraction in bold would be greatly appreciated. In the absence of a retraction, the new vote will still count, but as stated previoiusly, A RETRACTION IN BOLD WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
5. In the event of a tied lynch vote, there will be NO LYNCH.
NIGHT ACTIONS
1. Each player with an ability to perform a night action must PM me, before nightfall, with the name of the player they wish to perform their night action upon.
2. The Mafia must PM me, before nightfall, which individual member of the scum team will be performing the kill on a given night. Mafia members with specific roles (Snoop and Role Blocker) may not perform the kill AND their specific night action on the same night, unless there are no other living scum members to perform the nightly kill.
