It costs a lot of money to ship livestock and salt water creatures generally cost a lot of money too, compared to fresh water.
Few of us Saltwater enthusiasts will become tired or annoyed with our livestock. Your best bet is to start out small and purchase a couple hardy species.
Plus, since you are stating,
you would not be ready for a shipment anyway. Starfish and other inverts need a well established set-up to have a fighting chance at survival. Be patient and go slow. In time, you can accomplish your goals.
