How many Oscars should a well maintained "4ft large" tank support?

Thanks for any advice.

Dimensions of the "4 ft large" tank would be helpful before a solid answer can be given.

1. You'll need a much bigger footprint for more, as they need space to settle territories and aggression.

A 55 galllon will not house an oscar properly, a 75 would be bar minimuim IMO.

Sorry, the term "X ft large" is quite common here in Australia when it comes to describing aquaria. The dimensions are 4ft * 2ft * 1.5ft

Nice size tank - ideally suited for 1 big old Oscar at adult size.

If you introduced them together while very young and got lucky with the mix/personality, you might be able to have another smaller fish - say a Jack Dempsey. But you would need a plan B in case they kicked off against each other, which can happen suddenly and unexpectedly.
