I thought that my engineer goby was making an annex to his little fort under the rock. But I have just spent twenty minutes watching one (the largest) of my yellow tail damsels digging out this gully under a rock in the front of my tank. Is she nesting??? would it be possible to get any of these eggs to hatch if she is nesting?
These fish are soooo coool !!!!
Nothing at all like fresh water. And I used to keep "live bearers":D

In the wild, some damsels clear out areas to allow algae growth, farming it for food.

I suppose it could be clearing a nesting area, clowns certainly do that. You would need two, of course. The fry are planktonic and require very small live foods, so it's not likely any would survive.

Nonetheless, it sounds like a happy damsel!
