I recently bought a group of venus fly traps from BugBitingPlants.com and honestly, they ripped me off! They were tiny plants with almost no roots but I figured "they'll grow"... Well I was wrong. Within a few days traps started turning black and then the whole plant would turn black and now all are dead... I am so mad!:swear:

So where do you guys get your VFTs? I am considering just going to lows and getting a few of those container plants for 7 bucks... It can't be any worse than what I have now...

I really don't want to pay a ton of money and then shipping on top of that but do you guys have a source for cheep but quality VFTs?

We always get ours at Home Depot. I saw some amazing pitcher plants, in a hanging basket no less, a couple of weeks ago there.

I think I may try that. Every one that I've seen has been bigger and brighter than the ones I ordered. How do you acclimate them from their plastic containers to the outside world? Do you find that they are generally healthy?

The VFTs you get in the death traps at a home improvement store are going to need a lot of TLC before they look decent, IME. But depending on your area it is probably going to cost you half as much when you factor in shipping.

I've bought CPs online from the following places:

http://www.flytrapshop.com/servlet/StoreFront
http://www.flytraps.com/scripts/prodList.asp
http://www.carnivorousplantnursery.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl?SID=1281140437.11720/page=estore.html

Never any VFTs however I've purchased drosera and neps from those ones and never had issues with shipping or plant quality, for the most part.

Both of my VFT's came from Lowes/Home Depot... can't remember which. Depending on your part of the country, I would recommend either cobraplant.com (NW), or blackjungle.com (NE). You may pay a little more when you factor in shipping, but you get much better stock. IME, it's worth the extra expense unless you have the time to put into nursing one back to health from the death cubes.

Order from Meadowview and I'll try to get you a nice, big one. No joke, we dug some up yesterday that had corms the size of golfballs. You acclimate them to full sun by placing them by the side of a shady structure, like a house for about a week, letting them get about an hour of full sun a day. Move them about 3 feet away from the shaded area every week. That's how I acclimate them.
