Will 1 Otocinclus Vestitus control the algae growth of a 5 gallon or will I need more to do that? Also, will 4 Otocinclus Vestitus control the algae growth of a 10 gallon or will I need more to do that? I would appreciate the help!

I have two in a 30, and they are very happy - as well as I am with there performance. I'll keep them on the pay roll for a while longer. :)

There isn't a lot of growth in the 5g, but in the 10g there is A LOT! Also, both kind tanks have brown algae.

So is 1 enough for a 5g and 4 enough for a 10g?

1 is enough, but they are schooling fish, keep that in mind. And you should really have a few and a small tank won't be able to handle bioload and lack of algae.

I really wouldn't recommend having a solitary Oto. Do you have any other critters in the tanks? Have to keep an eye on your stocking levels.
