will a pleco be ok with out DW for a week or so?

im getting some plecos but dont have any wood yet. i can probably get some soon though so will it be ok? the DW i was gonna use turned out to be soft wood :(

Not sure but I think the wood helps the plecos digest their food or something with their intestines.

i think plecos would be fine for a week without wood. think about it this way: many people's quarantine tanks are devoid of natural decorations (to make sanitization easier), and fish are in qt for much longer than week, including plecos.

very good point. so it leaves me time to go DW searching at stores and by ponds.

Ancistrus pleco's (like BN) don't need wood in their diet, they simply eat whatever grows on the surface. Panaques like the clown pleco actually do eat wood, and will die w/out it in their diet.
