Possible leech?

I just won a couple of betta auctions, and I think one might have a leech. Here's the pic, look near the gills:

Now the question is, should I use a salt dip or ParaGuard?

i see nothing wrong at all with that betta. are you referring to the black line on his gill? that is normal. it is the edge of a male betta's 'beard'. much more noticeable on light coloured bettas than dark ones.
